The friendly Ticos and Ticas, as people of Costa Rica call themselves, value culture, education and their amazing natural environment. In 2018 I started my trip in San José, the capital and third city in the world to have street lights after New York and Paris.
In the ‘50s President José Figueres Ferer abolished the military, this minimized revolts and the money saved was used for education and health programs. In the ‘60s this democratic and progressive country began a green economy based on eco-tourism.
