When I think of Scotland pristine nature, deep lochs, and old castles come to mind. Scots are known for being stoic, and brave but they’re also very friendly. Traveling throughout the Highlands, the deep green rolling hills were in harmony with the stories our guide was telling of the old days when people endured life in that beautiful but harsh land.
They say that ‘a man in a kilt is a man and a half’, and as history tells, the kilted 51st Highland Division was rated by the Germans as the best of all the formations they came across during World War I.
Even in Ecuador, historians say that the battle for independence, between 1820 and 1822, was won with help of brave Scottish volunteer soldiers.
