On October 21st, 1833 a boy was born in Stockholm who became the founder of the Nobel Prize. It’s said that Albert Nobel was inspired to do this by a peace activist friend. Nobel prizes are awarded in Stockholm except for the Nobel Peace Prize that is awarded in Oslo.
I visited Sweden in 2015 during the season of warmth and sunlight which locals treasure the most. I was impressed with their efficient network of bicycle lanes that Stockholm has to accommodate the large population living and working downtown. It was also interesting to learn the royal palace was first a fortress built to defend the fresh-water of their treasured/livelihood Lake Mälaren.
