Plovdiv is the second largest city of Bulgaria, and it’s believed to be the oldest inhabited town in Europe. It became the European Capital of Culture for 2019 on the year I visited Bulgaria for the second time.
The charm of Plovdiv is not only its winding cobbled streets, ancient wall, and architecture, but the passion of its people for the visual arts that can be appreciated in galleries, museums and outdoors throughout the town.
Another highlight of this trip was Rila Monastery, the most influential spiritual, and cultural location in Bulgaria since medieval times.
