Ecuador is my native country and favorite place to travel to see family, childhood friends and enjoy the beauty of the most geographically diverse place on earth. The biodiversity of Ecuador is due to its unique location on the west coast of South America where two opposite-temperature underwater currents, El Niño and Humboldt collide and where the Andes Mountains cross the warmest latitude, the Equator. This unique phenomenon has shaped not only the landscape and resources, but also its distinctive culture.
