In the summer of 1999, Franchesca and I traveled the Bordeaux countryside and Paris. Paris is known as the ‘City of Lights’ for its leading role during the Age of Enlightenment; or, some argue that it is called this because citizens were asked to place a candle in their windows against the rising rate of crime. Nevertheless, Paris continues to inspire the world of art and style. Montmartre, our favorite, is where we strolled on the cobblestones streets that Renoir, Monet, Picasso and many other artists walked. This bohemian neighborhood became the cradle of artistic creativity and continues to be the home of young painters, poets and writers.
