The first encyclopedia “The Book of High Wisdom of the World and Nature” was written by Latvian pastor Gotthard Friedrich Stender. The encyclopedia and ancient traditions have survived the occupations Latvia had endured.
Latvia, small but courageous country joined the Baltic Chain of Freedom or ‘Road to Democracy’ on August 23, 1989 when two million people held hands connecting the three Baltic Capitals, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, in a peaceful protest to gain back its independence from the Soviet Union.
