After spending a few days in Cozumel, Franchesca and I embarked on a tour to the ancient city of Chichén Itzá. According to legend, twice a year during the spring and autumn equinoxes when the day and night are in balance, ‘the feathered Serpent God Kukulcan returns to earth to commune with his worshipers and to provide blessings before entering the sacred water, bathing in it, and continuing through it on his way to the underworld’.
The structures and history were a great experience; but I can’t say the same about the ride back to Cozumel when the evening winds rocked the ferry enough to get my weak stomach sick.
